I have neither questionable taste in hats nor questionable taste in music, thank you. I have extraordinary taste in both of those categories, you just can't see the genius.
Hats or headdresses are sometimes symbols of someone holding an office or position of power. Owls are symbols of wisdom, sometimes death, and magic and prophecy.
My guess is that it would mean whomever was wearing the hat was either someone who was in charge of death, or revered as very wise, or perhaps was chiefly in charge of eating mice and vomiting up their bones and hair.
I think if anyone was in charge of eating mice and vomiting out their bones it might be Cammie. Though Catseye did have to be convinced quite a few years ago that my pet mice (the first set, not the current set which are set number five or seven or eight or some other number not one) were not food.
I might have put them in a very safe place for purposes of nostalgia and emergency 1970s clothing. You never know - with the people I'm hanging out with these days, it could apparently be necessary.
