Wedding was fantastic. Congrats again, Mr. and Mrs. Dayspring. ;-)

In other news, jetlag sucks. I think I'll go back to bed now. :)

See, and now I have this mental image of you walking around with a ticking sound coming from your spleen. And having to punch yourself in the stomach to hit the snooze button.

Ha-HA! I have no spleen!

You don't have a spleen? ... WHat IS a spleen anyways?

Nope, I have no spleen. Lost it, part of my large and small intestine, and almost a kidney in the same accident that resulted in my metal bits. Well, the first one. Nothing other than my arm got hurt the last time. Unless wounded pride is a medical condition.

Yeah, but what's a spleen DO?

Woundeditis pridicus. Or something like that.

It's like a filter for your blood. You can live without it, obviously, but because it got really messed up, I tend to be at more danger of septic infection in my system than normal folks. Hence why I'm on these pills for the next few weeks.

Oh.

Maybe that's what makes mutants like me get sick not as much? Bigger spleens?

Man, organs have funny names.

Like the islets of Langerhans, which are inside the pancreas.

Both of them are really fun to say. And without them, we'd have a lot more trouble digesting proteins and fats. And we'd all be diabetic. Handy little funny-named organ, the pancreas.

you forget the every-popular Gaelea Aponeurotica - a tendonous sheet holding your frontalis and occipital muscles together.

and Peyer's Patches in your small intestine.

Oddly enough...

They'd actually managed to _save_ mine.

I take it you've got an implant that does the same job?

Nope, I've been running without one, just taking a lot of precautions to not get massively injured or risk things like blood poisoning. Dr. Smythe talked about the possibility of a replacement, but wants to hold off until I'm older. Assuming I pass all my finals, I'm going to lean a little heavier on the organic sciences next semester, and see if I can't come up with something.

of course you will pass, you're a genius.

me? not a genius so passing is questionable.

I wasn't too much older than you...

When I burned. Of course, my cybernetics were a crash install, do it or he dies sort of a thing. So they didn't spend much time worrying about the niceties.
